It has been 37 years since I became involved in jazz education while playing with the Stan Kenton Orchestra and within that period of time I have given hundreds of clinics and concerts in the US and many countrys over seas. I also have been envolved in teaching and playing at numerous jazz camps acroos the country. This Summer I was out having a great time doing one week long jazz camps at:

* Simpson University in Indianola, IO
* Drury University in Springfield, MO
* University of MO at Kansas City
* Cal State University at Sacramento
* Centrum at The Port Townsend Jazz Camp, Port Townsend, WA

These Camps are a wonderful place for students of all ages to come play and learn about jazz. The first 4 of the above camps are run by Jim Widner, bass player and jazz educator from St. Louis, MO. The Port Townsend Camp is being run by artistic director John Clayton.

I have had the pleasure of working at these camps with such greats as Kim Richmond, Clay Jenkins, Bobby Watson, Tarrell Stafford, Rob Fleeman, Tom Kennedy, Rick Haydon, Chip Stevens, Paul McKee, Scott Winfield, Dave Pietro, Mike Vax, John Harner and Davey Scott along with many other wonderful teachers and players.

We have had a great time at Port Townsend where the staff has included, along with some of the before mentioned, Bobby Shew, Maria Schnieder, Bill Holman,Bob Florence, Jerrold Wilson, Pete Christlieb,Jeff Hamilton, Kurt Elling, Carl Allen, Allen Jones, Bill Mays, Jeff Clayton, Jiggs Whigham, Randy Halberstadt, Chuck Deardorf, Nancy King, Bill Ramsay, Ingred Jensen, Kristen Korb and many more great musicians.

This Fall Term marks my eleventh year of teaching at the University Of Oregon. I teach drumset and work mainly with the Jazz Majors under the direction of Steve Owen who, in my opinion, is one of the finest University level jazz educators in the country. A truly great program.

I have been very lucky to be involved with Yamaha Drum Company since 1981 and I am very excited about recently becoming a Bosphorus Cymbal Artist. These two companies do an awsome job of helping artists share their knowledge and experience with the young and not so young students of music around the world. They also have allowed my voice to be heard through their wonderful instruments.

I do clinics and concerts all over the country with High School and University bands as well as some "in store" clinics at different music stores. Please feel free to contact me on my email list if you are interested in working together on any kind of educational projects.
Keep on learning.
